CIHURI: HISTORY,
HERITAGE, NATURE

WELCOME TO CIHURI
A haven of peace in La Rioja Alta
People from La Rioja are very well known for their hospitality, especially those who live in Cihuri. It is not by chance the “Camino de Santiago” goes through this region.
We like welcoming people and make them feel like at home. Free, safe, and ready to share some special
moments and experiences with good friends while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
We want to offer you our house that, without any doubt, is yours.
In Cihuri. In La Rioja.
YOU WILL FEEL LIKE AT HOME
Yes, this is your home! We will show you our village so that you know us better. We will start from Doctor Asuero square, the heart of our village. From there, we will begin a tour in which you will discover history, art, wine, gastronomy, as well as an amazing countryside and a stunning natural environment.
Alone, with family or friends. It is entirely up to you. You know that you will always be welcome.
We want to offer you the best we have, share it with you and make sure that you enjoy it as much as we do.
A region that you will fall in love with, friendly and unique.

A PLACE FOR EVERYONE
Cihuri is a village situated in the Rioja Alta area, just 7 km away from Haro and 49 from Logroño, the capital of the region. Surrounded by vineyards, it is sheltered by the Peñas de Jembres, near the Montes Obarenes, in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria. This “Sierra” is located to the north, protecting the valley from humidity and cold weather.
According to Felipe Abad León, chronicler of La Rioja, it is probable that the name “Cihuri” comes from the Basque language, based on the spelling of the old chartularies of San Millán, where the Word “Zofiuri” (Zofi-uri) appears and means “town of the bridge”.
Indeed, the Tirón and the Oja rivers are two of the 7 tributaries of La Rioja that flow into the Ebro, fantastic examples of natural life in Cihuri.
